After missing out on M.A.C’s infamous ‘Lavender Whip’ lipstick I have been desperately seeking a similar lilac hue. At last I found one that had the milky colour I was looking for with a cream matte finish and good staying power. Where did I find it, I hear you ask? Why M.A.C of course! The shade in question is ‘Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick’ and I am really surprised with this product as I was not a great fan of Nicki’s first collaboration, ‘Viva Glam Nicki Lipstick’.
‘Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick’ has a satin finish which is cool toned, creamy and true to colour. It has good wear time and I tend to partner it with ‘Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass’ for a lovely glossy look. While some lipsticks can be quite drying this is not the case with ‘Viva Glam Nicki 2’ as its buttery texture glides easily on the lips and feels very moisturising.
I find that this colour looks particularly flattering on Asian skin tones as the lavender shade adds subtle warmth to the complexion and is a modern alternative to the traditional pale pink lip. This would also work well on paler or darker skin tones too as the candy shade borders on neutral territory.
The lipglass is not sticky or tacky as you might find with other brands and has a strong colouring considering its pastel shade. With both products there is a faint vanilla scent which I personally do not like.
‘Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipstick’ is £15 while it’s counterpart ‘Viva Glam Nicki 2 Lipglass’ retails at £14. Slightly expensive limited edition pieces but you can wear them with the satisfaction of knowing all the proceeds from your purchase go towards M.A.C Aids Fund which helps those affected with HIV and Aids.
